IT WASN’T DRAMATIC

Hello! I’m Auny 🧡 Nice to meet you. When my friend, Meggs asked me to be a guest writer on today’s “Where Strategy Meets Style”, I could not say no!

There wasn’t a single dramatic moment.

No lightning strike of confidence.

Just me; sitting in my car, hands on the steering wheel, staring at the road like it might give me answers.

For years, I carried an inner voice that didn’t even sound like me.

It sounded like every disappointment I’ve lived through:

→ The partner who made me question my worth.

→ The monster who pretended to love me while hiding who he really was.

→ The people who smiled to my face but hoped quietly that I’d fail.

→ The strangers online who think they have the right to judge a life they’ve never lived.

Little by little, that voice became my narrator.

I never noticed it until one day I realized I was living my life like it was a crime scene, always checking for fingerprints of someone else’s judgment.

That was the day I fired my inner critic.

I wasn’t gentle or polite about it.

I threw it out like any other toxic employee who wasn’t doing their job.

Because self-doubt isn’t guidance.

It’s sabotage.

Self-doubt talks like it’s logical, but it does the job of an enemy.

It wants you to feel small.

It wants you scared.

It wants you to believe you’re one step away from being unlovable, unworthy, or irrelevant.

And honestly?

I’ve survived too much to let a voice in my own head bully me around.

I’ve walked through grief that cracked me open.

I’ve rebuilt myself from situations that could have easily broken someone who didn’t have my stubbornness, resilience, my ridiculous ability to get back up even when everything in me says, “stay down.”

So why would I let an inner VOICE have more power than the actual person living this life?

Firing that voice wasn’t about becoming fearless.

I still overthink.

I still hesitate.

I still question myself more than I should.

But now, I don’t confuse fear with facts.

Now, when that voice tries to speak, I don’t negotiate with it.

I don’t rationalize it.

I replace it.

With the version of me who has survived every chapter.

With the girl who drives aimlessly until her head clears.

With the woman who is building an entire brand from grit, curiosity, and the desire to help people feel seen.

With the person who knows she loves, thinks, and feels deeply… and that none of that is a weakness.

Self-doubt didn’t protect me.

It just slowed me down.

And it’s doing the same for you.

And if there’s anything I’ve learned this year, it’s this:

I don’t need another enemy.

Especially not one living inside my head.

The day I fired my inner critic, I didn’t become perfect.

I just finally stopped fighting myself.

And that was the first real win I’ve had in a long time.

YOU can have it too.

Just believe in yourelf.
